The height of the light pole varies greatly due to type, purpose and installation environment, and is mainly divided into the following categories:
1. Conventional street light pole height Common height for urban roads/communities
Generally 4-12 meters, common specifications include 4 meters, 5 meters, 6 meters, 8 meters, 10 meters, 12 meters, etc., depending on the road width and lighting needs. For example, 6-meter light poles are commonly used in urban roads, with a spacing of about 15-18 meters.
Garden lights and lawn lights
Garden lights: 2.5-4 meters, suitable for residential areas or landscape areas;
Lawn lights: 0.5-1 meter, used for lighting low green belts.
2. High pole light height Definition and classification
Light poles over 15 meters are called high pole lights, usually 15-40 meters, and common specifications include 15 meters, 18 meters, 20 meters, 25 meters, 30 meters, 35 meters, and 40 meters;
Medium pole lights: 12-15 meters, between conventional street lights and high pole lights.
Application in special places
Large areas such as football fields and airports: 20-30m high pole lamps are mostly used. For example, football fields often use 20m, 25m and 30m specifications. The poles are designed as 8-12-sided polygonal structures with lifting functions;
Plaza or intersection: 15-20m can be selected when the area is less than 5,000m2, and 25-30m is required for areas greater than 10,000m2.
3. Key factors in height design
Lighting requirements
It is necessary to combine the power, elevation angle and lighting range of the lamp to avoid glare (the height should not be less than 4.5m);
For example, the wind-resistant design of the high pole lamp must meet the wind speed requirement of 60m/s.
Installation environment
The width difference between factory areas, rural roads and urban roads will affect the choice of pole height;
The recommended height for household street lamp poles is 2-3m, taking into account both lighting effect and aesthetics.
